Campaign For Working Families – Free 2020 Tax Preparation Services

Our 2020 tax season is here.  The Campaign for Working Families along with District 1199C are committed to providing services and resources that will improve the financial well-being of our union members, community students and families.

Due to COVID-19 things will be done differently this year. It is important that everyone is safe and follow instructions listed.

*Note: You cannot visit a tax site without an appointment. 

District 1199C Training Upgrading Fund will open Wednesday, January 27, 2021(soft opening 1st week) – Wednesday, April 14, 2021. Wednesday times are from 4:30pm-7:30pm. Saturday times are from 9am-1pm.

This year our Site Manager will be Nate Dixon.

Please be mindful if customers come to get taxes done and have not taken the proper steps to make an appointment or have all required documents they could be turned away. Also, this is a DROP OFF service ONLY.

Step 2 – DROP OFF

Your return is safe with us! To limit in-person contact, you will drop off your information and documents during a brief visit. (Clients are not permitted to wait at the location)

Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to avoid rescheduling. We kindly ask that no children are brought to the tax site.

Step 3 – REVIEW & FILE

Our IRS-certified preparers will quality-review your return, then follow up with you by phone to file the final return with the IRS. We will then let you know when your return will be ready for pickup.

We’ll work hard to maximize your return and help you get the refund you deserve . . . FREE! 

What to Bring Come Prepared!

For a quick and easy tax filing, bring the following documents for you, your spouse, and anyone you are claiming as a dependent.

  • Current driver’s license, state ID, passport, Green Card, or Employment Authorization card AND birth dates for all household members
  • Social Security card (or other Social Security document with full SSN on it)
  • W-2 and 1099 forms for income, pensions or Social Security, or unemployment received last year; plus your previous year’s tax return (if available)
  • Year end statement for childcare expenses AND Social Security Number or Employer Identification Number of the provider
  • 1098-T form for any college/ trade school expenses paid
  • 1095-A statement (if applicable) AND Total all expenses plus bills/receipts for medicine and doctor’s visits as backup
  • Property tax

Virtual Online Services

Free online tax preparation from the comfort of your couch. Our new secure web portal at GetYourRefund.org will allow you to upload your tax information, speak to our IRS certified tax preparers, and get help filing your taxes online for FREE.

  1. Visit GetYourRefund.org
  2. Answer questions.
    We’ll ask you to verify your identity as well as a series of questions about your finances. (If you’re having trouble verifying your ID please email virtual@cwfphilly.org for some extra help.)
  3. Submit documents.
    Share all necessary documents (ID, W-2’s, 1099, 1095-A,B,C).
  4. Phone review.
    We will review everything with you over the phone.
  5. Get your refund.
    If you choose to file your taxes, our tax volunteers will help you e-file.

CWF is partnering with Code For America who created GetYourRefund.org as a secure web portal that you can use to upload your tax documents and communicate with our IRS-certified preparers. We are here for you every step of the way should you run into any issues.
